Access these settings via Env Data > Geometry > Auto Splice. Separate auto splice options for top and bottom chords allow for greater flexibility and avoid the need to manually change splices.
Note that the following error may result if a board is longer than its Max Length setting.
This indicates that a splice is needed. This error may also result when the actual lengths specified as “in inventory” in Director.
For example, if you have the a board set to 20 feet, but your inventory from Director only contains lumber up to 16’ lengths, Truss Studio will not be able to find lumber for a 20’ length. The options in the Env settings above should match the actual inventory, so that auto-splicing knows how to avoid the warning.
When Truss Studio encounters this warning, it designs the truss, but uses only the first grade of material in that size; it will not bump up the grade to attempt to fix it if there is nothing in the inventory that satisfies the actual length.
